Southover Open Gardens is back for 2019 with a trail of secret gardens to explore in Lewes on Sunday June 9 from 2pm – 5pm (some gardens open til 6pm). Entry is by ticket only at £5, kids go free. The event is hosted by Southover Bonfire Society and is raising funds to buy some of the fireworks Lewes is famous for.
There are a wide range of gardens to see, including several new ones: from large traditional English spaces to those that are smaller, or with a more contemporary feel. Highlights include the garden hiding behind an Edwardian terrace, originally laid out 100 years ago by the Martin sisters as a landscaped garden in the style of Gertrude Jekyll. This has been lovingly restored during the past 25 years and will have delicious cakes and refreshments for sale. Tickets for the Open Gardens are available from the Lewes Tourist Information Centre, St Pancras Stores, The Swan and The King’s Head public houses in Lewes. They will also be for sale at 6 Grange Road on the day. For more information, please follow us: https://www.facebook.com/
